It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of beloved wife, mother, and daughter, Julie Marie Scribner Stecker.
Julie was a brave, stylish, generous, and open-hearted woman. She was born May 20, 1971 in Yakima Washington, the third child of Joann and Bobby Scribner, along with brother Kenny and a sister Kelly. Julie spent her childhood and teen years in Yakima, where she met her future husband, Chris Stecker, during high school. Julie and Chris were married in 1992 and soon joined by Logan (2000) and Lilly (2005).
Julie worked as a Research Coordinator and Manager of the Spatial Hearing Lab at Boys Town National Research Hospital. Julie and Chris worked side-by-side for many years, and she will be remembered fondly by students and colleagues that have come through the lab.
Over the years, Julie made a loving home for her family -- moving between Oakland California, Ypsilanti Michigain, Seattle Washington, Helsinki Finland, Nashville Tennessee, and Omaha Nebraska. Julie loved to travel and especially to make people laugh with her sharp and irreverent sense of humor. She will be missed by all, most especially her husband Chris, son Logan, daughter Lilly, and her pets Stevie, Pikku, and Archie.
An informal viewing will be held in Omaha, 4-6 pm Friday November 12 at Heafey Hoffmann Dworak Cutler, 78th and Center.
Funeral services will be held in Yakima, on Tuesday November 23 at the Terrace Heights LDS Church, 105 S. Hillcrest Drive, Yakima WA 98901. Viewing will begin at 10 am, with service to follow. Julie will be interred at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
Symbolizes the continuous renewal of life. In each ending, we find a new beginning.
Gifts are not requested at this time, but if you feel so moved you may consider contributing to the 529 fund that Julie established for her children's college education. Please reach out to a member or friend of the family for information.
